π©βπ« Logging your fasts: a step-by-step guide
Every time you start or end a fast, itβs important to log these events in the app. This will ensure that all of Simple's personalized guidance and advice is being sent to you by push-notifications β exactly when you need it!
How to log the start of your fast
To log the beginning of your fast, first find and tap the Start fast button on the main screen:
In Simple, every fast begins and ends with a meal. You will be asked if you would like to start your fast from the previously logged meal, or if you would prefer to log a new one.
If you choose to start the fast with a new meal, simply log the meal as you usually do. You can also choose the time. To learn how to log meals, please check this article.
If you choose the previously logged meal, Simple will then start counting your fasting period from the latest meal you log for a day. This is really convenient for when, say, you've already had and logged your lunch and then decided to skip dinner. This way you record that your current fast started right after lunch. Easy, isn't it?
How to end your fast
Hereβs how you log a meal when your timer has ended and it's time to eat again.
Tap the End fast button on the Home screen:
As you now know, every fast begins and ends with a meal. You'll be asked to log the meal that broke your fast.
You can manually select the time of that fast-breaking meal. This is handy when you forget to log the end of your fast at the time:
Well done, your fast is officially over! Once you've ended your fast, Simple will reward your success with valuable stats and insights for motivation into the future.
Don't worry if you accidentally end your fast before you're meant to, you can always edit your fasting time.
How to edit a logged fast
1. To edit an already logged fast, hold and move the calendar at the top to the left and find the required date (in some versions of the app the profile icon might be located on the right side):
2. Tap Edit fast:
3. Make changes and tap Done:
Keep in mind that, as we've already mentioned, fasts and meals are interconnected. So, changes in the starting and ending times of your fasts will affect the times of the meals that started and ended the fast.
A couple more things to note here
Before this fast-tracking lesson is over, we'd like to give you a few extra tips to help you get started.
π Fasting for less than 12 hours
If your current fasting period has lasted less than 12 hours, you will not be able to properly log it as as complete within the app as it isn't considered long enough to qualify as a fast in accordance with Simple's intermittent fasting methodology. You will, however, be able to end it whenever you choose to.
π Fasting for more than 24 hours
If you've fasted for over 24 hours, we might ask you to confirm if it was intentional. We'll do this to double-check if you forgot to end a fast, ensuring accurate tracking and personal insights.
If confirmed, the fast will be added to your statistics. Please keep in mind that, according to Simple methodology, we don't recommend fasting for longer than 24 hours; therefore, longer fasts might not appear in your stats.
π Meals interrupt fasts
If, during an active fasting period, you log a meal or a drink that contains calories for a time after the fast started, this will automatically end your current fast. The newly added food or drink will also be logged as a fast-breaking meal.
