👩🏫 Logging your fasts: a step-by-step guide
Every time you start or end a fast, it’s important to log these events in the app. This will ensure that all of Simple's personalized guidance and advice is being sent to you by push-notifications – exactly when you need it!
How to log the start of your fast
To log the beginning of your fast, first find and tap the Start fast button on the main screen:
In Simple, every fast begins and ends with a meal. You will need to choose when and what you ate, and tap Done:
Simple will then start counting your fasting period from the latest meal you log for a day. This is really convenient for when, say, you've already had and logged your lunch and then decided to skip dinner. This way you record that your current fast started right after lunch. Easy, isn't it?
Alternatively, you can start your fast with a meal you might not have yet logged. This way, Simple will prompt you to log your latest meal as you normally would and before starting the fast. This option also allows you to record the time you had that meal. So, if you forgot to log a meal or a fast at the time, you can easily record it at a later, more convenient time. Just don’t forget to hit the Start fasting button once you save your meal.
How to end your fast
Here’s how you log a meal when your timer has ended and it's time to eat again.
Tap the End fast button on the Home screen:
Almost there! As you now know, every fast begins and ends with a meal. You'll be asked to log the meal that broke your fast.
You can manually select the time of that fast-breaking meal. This is handy when you forget to log the end of your fast at the time:
Well done, your fast is officially over! Once you've ended your fast, Simple will reward your success with valuable stats and insights for motivation into the future.
Finally, you can add some personal comments to your completed fast and share your latest achievement with friends, family and maybe even your bitter rivals.
Don't worry if you accidentally end your fast before you're meant to. Remember – every fast ends with a meal, and every meal you log can be edited. To make adjustments to anything you’ve recorded, simply go to your Journal and delete the last meal in it (assuming you didn't actually have it). This will resume your fast as if nothing happened.
How to edit a logged fast
1. To edit an already logged fast, hold and move the calendar at the top to the left and find the required date:
2. Tap Edit fast:
3. Make changes and tap Done:
A couple more things to note here
Before this fast-tracking lesson is over, we'd like to give you a few extra tips to help you get started.
🕓 Fasting for less than 12 hours
If your current fasting period has lasted less than 12 hours, you will not be able to properly log it as as complete within the app as it isn't considered long enough to qualify as a fast in accordance with Simple's intermittent fasting methodology. You will, however, be able to end it whenever you choose to.
🕙 Fasting for more than 36 hours
If you've fasted over 36 hours, we'll ask you to confirm if this was intentional. We'll do this to double check if you forgot to end a fast! This will ensure accurate tracking and personal insights.
If confirmed, the fast will be added to your statistics. Otherwise, Simple will mark the fast as inaccurate and will not add it to your overall stats.
🍕 Meals interrupt fasts
If during an active fasting period, you log a meal for a time after the fast started, this will automatically end your current fast. The newly added food or drink will also be logged as a fast-breaking meal.
